Anne Murray: Consultant on photographic collections for the Museum of Ethnography in Stockholm. Was, until recently, curator for the museum's documentation and collection management. Was project leader for the Institutional Cooperation between the National Museum and Art Gallery in Gaborone and the Museum of Ethnography during 1991-97. Participated in a regional museums' project on Botswana in 1998. Chairperson of BOTSFA 1995 - 2005. Married, with two grown up daughters, with their own families, and a son.
Birgitta Lundgren-Lindquist: Professor Emerita. Has been adviser to Botswana Red Cross (BRCS) implementing Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) in rural areas and has had several expert assignments for WHO, ICH, RK in, among other countries, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. Has frequently visited Botswana for over 20 years, where she has provided guidance and supervision to more than 50 students from Sweden and Australia doing thesis work in various areas and levels.
Julia Majaha-Järtby: From Masunga village, Botswana, lived in Upplands Väsby, Sweden, with husband, Per Järtby, and their children during 1977-81. Worked for the Bank of Botswana from 1983-2000 (of which the last five years were at the position of Deputy Governor). Together with husband, lived in Washington DC in 2001, where she worked for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) until 2008. Now living in Sigtuna, Sweden, and works as a consultant for the IMF. Pays regular visits to Botswana. Has two adult children and five grandchildren.
Mats Ögren Wanger: Went to Botswana first time in 1990 with father, Tomas Ögren, who worked for SIPU. Revisited Botswana in 2006, together with wife and colleague, Cecilia Wanger, on a commission sponsored by "Dagens Industri". Have both continued to work on travel and TV documentaries that have covered Botswana, including working with world famous author of the "No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency" series based on Botswana, Alexander McCall Smith. Is photographer for the 2009 "Mma Ramotswe Cookbook" and is father to two children.
Pretty Phologolo: From Francistown, Botswana (has Kanye as home village by marriage). Is First Secretary in the Embassy of Botswana in Sweden. Represents the Embassy on the Board and, since 2007, lives in Stockholm with husband, Victor, and their two children.
Seboleleng Bertilsson: From Francistown, Botswana. Moved to Stockholm in 1999, through marriage to Karl Bertilsson. Became member of BOTSFA the same year. Worked as secondary school teacher in Botswana and has, since coming to Sweden, attained a Bachelor of Education degree and is working as a preschool teacher in Akalla, Stockholm. Has one adult son living in Botswana.
Sten Rylander: Country Director for SIDA in Botswana and Lesotho at the Embassy of Sweden in Gaborone 1979-1982. Later Swedish Ambassador in Angola (1985-88), Namibia (1990-95), Tanzania (1998-2003) and Zimbabwe (2006-2010). Assistant Director General and Head of the Africa Department at Sida (1995-98). Great admirer of Botswana and in frequent touch with Batswana friends. Married with Berit Rylander, former teacher at the Swedsih school in Gaborone and working for Sida since 1983. Has two children and five grandchildren.
Ulla Beckman: First Secretary at the Sida office of the Swedish Embassy in Gaborone from 1981-85 and in Harare, Zimbabwe, 1988-92. Retired from Sida in 1993 after 18 years' service. Treasurer of BOTSFA since 1997 and a member of the Executive Committee of SveZim since 1994 (Chairperson 1994-95 and Treasurer since 1997).
Ulla Odqvist: 1982-1986 Second Secretary at the Swedish Embassy in Gaborone. Travelled the world to various countries where she took up different positions at Swedish Embassies in all continents of the world except Australia. Retired from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2004. Returned for a nostalgic trip to Botswana in 2006 for the celebrations of Botswana Independence together with other Botswana fans. Was BOTSFA Chairperson 2007 to 2011.
Viera Larsson: Lived
in Botswana during 197577 and 198185 together with husband, Sixten,
and two daughters. Worked as architect on the documentation of traditional Tswana
housing and as illustrator and communicator in different projects for several
education institutions. Designed two sets of postal stamps for Botswana and participated
in two art exhibitions in Gaborone. Currently a independent consultant with own
company, Visual Communication.
